I was on the plane when the little girl in front of me declared that nobody ever fell out of aeroplanes, because if they did, we’d see them in the clouds.
It reminded me of just how joyful childhood can be. Its joys, the memories that linger. The music that brings them to mind, the smells… But also the little gestures and habits.
I was already a witch, brewing potions in the garden with my cat friends. I already loved so many things. I already had a tender heart and a gaze that was far too gentle. I carry so many happy memories within me; nostalgia often envelops me, even though I love my present and the people who make it so.
Little Ananda is still here. In every action, in every moment of wonder. She hides away sometimes. The world can be cruel, the future uncertain.
So when I hear her chattering against my heart, I try to remember to always dream big, just as she did, because children move forward and love, whilst adults hesitate and fear.
May my little joys do yours
Ananda
